The Government of Maldives strongly condemns the recent attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus, the capital of Syria.
The targeting of diplomatic facilities is a violation of international law and undermines the rules of diplomatic immunity and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. Upholding the inviolability of diplomatic premises according to international conventions is of utmost importance.
The Government and the people of Maldives express sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families and to all those affected by this incident.
