14 January 2014,Male'; Mr. Abdullah Hameed has been appointed as the new Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The appointment was made by H. E. President Yameen Abdul Gayoom on 8th January 2014.

Mr. Hameed has served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 17 years. He first joined the Ministry as the Chief of Protocol in May 1991 and had held the post for 15 years at the rank of a Deputy Minister. On 7th December 2006, Mr. Hameed was appointed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. After almost two and a half years of service in the said post, Mr. Hameed was then appointed as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs on 14thAugust 2008.

Prior to his appointment as Ambassador-at-Large, Mr. Hameed had served as the Honorary Consul of Seychelles to the Maldives.
