Secretary, Bilateral, Dr Hala Hameed met with Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s First Assistant Secretary for North and South Asia Division, Sarah Storey, today.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, both Secretary Bilateral Dr Hala and First Assistant Secretary Storey reflected on the renewed vigour of the partnership between the Maldives and Australia in the recent years, especially with establishment of a resident High Commission in the Maldives.
Discussions also focused on the different avenues of cooperation between the two countries including, climate change, people-to-people ties, defence, Indian Ocean security and Australia’s immense contribution to human resource development. Both further agreed to hold regular ‘Senior Officials Talks’ hereon, to continue to explore avenues to further enhance the bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
First Assistant Secretary Storey was accompanied by the Australian High Commissioner in the Maldives, David Jessup, Deputy High Commissioner, Andrew Hodges and Political Research and Information Officer, Abdulla Rasheed.
Secretary Bilateral Dr Hala Hameed was accompanied by Senior Undersecretary Hassan Hussain Shihab, and Desk Officer Saifulla Waleed.
