16 June 2015, Male’: The Government of Pakistan has donated USD 78,662/- to the Government of Maldives, under the Special Assistance Programme for South Asia (SAP-SA),  for the procurement of Sports Equipment.

16 June 2015 ; The Maldives calls for both Yemeni Parties to engage in the UN brokered peace talks without preconditions and in good faith, including by resolving their differences through dialogue and consultations. The statement was made at the Extraordinary Meeting on the Situation in Yemen taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. At the statement delivered by H.E. Mr. Abdullah Hameed, Ambassador at Large, the Maldives also echoed its support to the Government of Yemen represented by President Abdo Robo Mansour Hadi and expressed its support to the UN Security Council resolution calling on all Yemeni parties to abide by the Gulf Cooperation Council initiatives and to resume the United Nations-brokered political transition

16 June 2015, Male’, The Minister of Foreign Affairs H E  Dunya Maumoon convened the national Standing Committee on the Universal Periodic Review today. This was the first meeting held after Maldives UPR review held in Geneva on 6 May 2015.

15 June 2015, Geneva; In response to the oral update by the  United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights this morning, the Maldives reiterated its commitment in achieving a sufficient, legally binding climate agreement in the upcoming 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC. The Maldives urged all states to ensure that the negative effects of climate change on the enjoyment of human rights are adequately reflected in this agreement and subsequent outcome documents of the conference.

09 June 2015, Male'; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon has departed this morning on an official visit to Qatar.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Dunya is scheduled to hold talks with the Foreign Minister of Qatar, His Excellency Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Attiyah and discuss ways of further consolidating and expanding the excellent relationship between the Maldives and Qatar.

Minister Dunya is accompanied by Mr. Abdullah Hameed, Ambassador-at-Large in the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Mohamed Luveiz, Director at the President’s Office, and Ms. Mariyam Bassama Farooq, Assistant Director at the Foreign Ministry.

08 June 2015, Male’: His Excellency Mr. Chang Won-sam, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Maldives has called on Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

07 June 2015; Foreign Secretary, His Excellency Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed has arrived back in the Maldives after completion of his visit to Belgium and France.

During the visit to France, Foreign Secretary met with Mr Benoit Guidee, Conseiller Asia - Ameriques, Cabinet du Ministre of the French Foreign Ministry and discussed ways of further strengthening the close bilateral relations between the Maldives and France especially in areas such as climate change. They also discussed the upcoming COP21 and the importance of achieving a legally binding agreement at COP21.

In Belgium, the Foreign Secretary met with a number of senior EU officials including the Secretary General of EEAS, Mr Alain Le Roy and agreed to forge stronger partnership between the Maldives and EU for mutual benefit. FS also met with Mme Jean Lambert and had a fruitful discussion on strengthening Maldives partnership with the EU.

The Foreign Secretary also met with MEP Ian Duncan, Vice Chair, DSAS and Mr. Jos Delbeke, Director General for Climate Action of the European Commission and discussed the upcoming COP 21 the need for a strong legally binding agreement and ways of strengthening EU - AOSIS partnership.

During the visit, Foreign Secretary was accompanied by His Excellency Ahmed Shiaan, Ambassador of Maldives to EU and Ms. Fathimath Ghina, Counsellor at the Maldives Embassy in Belgium.
