12th December 2012, Male'; The Maldives has been nominated as the next Vice-Chair of the Human Rights Council, representing the Asian Group. Together with the Maldives countries elected as the vice chair of the Human Rights Council include Mauritania, Ecuador and Switzerland.

11 December 2012, Male'; The Maldives has called on the United Nations General Assembly to urgently address the effective management of oceans resources. Speaking at the UNGA plenary meeting under the Agenda Item on Oceans and the Law of the Sea, the Maldives delegation reiterated the necessity of addressing these issues for countries who rely on marine resources as an economic staple.Specific to the Maldives, tourism and fisheries, both of which rely on ocean resources, are the country's two largest economic contributors.

16 November 2012, Male'; The inaugural flight of ((Maldivian" , the national carrier of The Republic of Maldives, owned and operated by Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL), touched down at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) Dhaka Thursday 15 November 2012 afternoon, establishing the first direct air connectivity between Dhaka, Chennai and Male.

15th November 2012, Male'; The Maldives has reiterated its support to the ongoing intergovernmental negotiations on comprehensive reforms of the United Nations Security Council, and called for a continuation of deliberations on the matter during the current session.Speaking at the General Assembly during today's debate on Security Council reforms, Ambassador Ahmed Sareer, Chargé d'affaires of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations stated that a reformed Security Council must reflect contemporary geopolitical realities of today's world, and be able to address the myriad of new and rising challenges.
