ale';New Ambassador of Russia accredited to the Maldives, Alexander Karchava presented his letter of credence to President Dr Mohamed Waheed this afternoon.
At the ceremony held at the President's Office to present the credentials, President Waheed welcomed Ambassador Karchava.
Meeting the new Ambassador afterwards, the President and the Ambassador discussed ways to further strengthen the existing relations between the Maldives and Russia.
The President highlighted the opportunities in the fisheries, trade, and tourism sectors for Russian investors.
At the meeting, discussions were also held on ways to solve the environmental issues in the Maldives, and the higher education opportunities in Russia for Maldivian students.
