07 October 2013, Male', A private television channel, Raajje TV, as well as a computer show room at the B.K.T Building in Male', was set ablaze in the early hours of today. A statement released from the President today, has strongly condemned this act and has requested all the relevant authorities to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack and assured that the Government will do everything to serve justice.

7th October 2013, Male'; Acting Minister of Foreign affairs, Dr Mariyam Shakeela has condemned the attack on Raajje TV.Speaking at the Ministry she noted that the alleged arson attack on Raajje TV in the early hours of the morning of 7th October, Monday was a timid and cowardly attack that may lead to further escalation of tensions in Male'.She noted, the Government commitment to a full and thorough investigation and for ensuring perpetrators are brought swiftly to justice. She also pointed out that the Government would be giving high priority for the protection of all TV stations including independent and state media.

07 October 2013, Male'-The Supreme Court of the Maldives has just announced its verdict on the case filed by the leader of the Jumhooree Party (JP) of Maldives, Mr. Qasim Ibrahim alleging serious irregularities in the first round of the Presidential Election that was held on

6 October 2013, Male';The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Dr Mariyam Shakeela today called on external parties to exercise maximum patience and calm as the Maldives is going through its Constitutional process of holding presidential election, the first round of which was held on 7 September 2013.

06th October 2013, Male'; The Speaking at a press conference held today after his meeting with the presidential candidates, President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that all three candidates have agreed to endorse the voter registry so that presidential election could be held on Saturday as scheduled.

1 October 2013, Male';The Maldives calls for non-interference in internal affairs of sovereign states. The call was made by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mariyam Shakeela while addressing the sixty-eighth session of the United Nations General Assembly today.In her statement, she alluded to "the concerted efforts by external forces to prevent the emergence of an indigenous democratic system of governance in the Maldives [by] attempting to shape the outcome of, what is, an internal issue".

24 September 2013, Male', The Supreme Court of Maldives has passed a ruling yesterday evening to postpone the second round of the Presidential Election scheduled to be held on 28 September 2013. The Court, in its ruling highlighted the ongoing proceedings regarding alleged discrepancies in the election process, issues raised about the credibility of the electoral list and request for postponement of the Presidential runoff till there is a verdict on the case. The court injunction is aimed at finding time for the court to complete its hearings on the case.

The Maldives is capable of managing the dispute over the conduct of the first round of Presidential Elections. The Maldives is a nascent democracy. Still, our statutory institutions, including the judiciary, have shown that they are capable of making sound and impartial decisions on some of the most complex issues of national importance. Similarly, the people of the Maldives have also shown that they do accept the legitimacy of such decisions.

17 September 2013, Male'; The National level concerns have been raised regarding the first round of Presidential Elections of Maldives held on 7 September 2013. The Government is concerned about some of the reports it has received and issues that have been raised regarding the first round of elections.

17 September 2013. Male'; The Government of Maldives is shocked by the UN expert teams' findings that chemical weapons were used on a relatively large scale in Syria, resulting in numerous casualties, particularly among innocent civilians including many children.

14 September 2013, Male';I am pleased that the first round of voting of the Presidential election, on 7 September 2013, was concluded smoothly and peacefully. However, I am very concerned that there are some very serious allegations regarding the election. It is of utmost importance to resolve these issues by the respective legal and judicial venues, and to ascertain delivery of justice and the rule of law.
