27th December 2013, Male';The President of Maldives His Excellency Mr. Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Madam Fathimath Ibrahim are scheduled to make a State Visit to India from the 1st to the 4th of January 2014, on the invitation of the President of India, His Excellency Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The visit will be President Yameen's first official foreign visit since his assumption of office as the President of Maldives in November 2013.

26th December 2013, Male'; The staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon observed a movement of silence in the memory of lives lost during the catastrophic tsunami that hit Maldives and many other parts of Asia on 26th December 2004.

24 December 2013, Male': The Maldives yesterday enacted the first-evernational law against torture in the country. The Anti-Torture Act (2013) is the second piece of legislation to be signed into law by His Excellency President Yameen Abdul Gayoom since he took office last month.

18th December 2013, Male'; The Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of Japan, with a view to further developing friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, signed an Exchange of Notes today at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Ameen, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs signed the Exchange of Notes on behalf of the Government of Maldives and His Excellency Mr. Nobuhito Hobo, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Maldives, signed the Exchange of Notes on behalf of the Government of Japan.

16 December 2013, Male'; The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Her Excellency Ms Dunya Maumoon, has today met with Minister of State at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, The Rt Hon. Hugo Swire MP. Acting High Commissioner to the UK, Mr Ahmed Shiaan, was also in attendance at the meeting held in Whitehall, London.

8 December 2013, Male'; Minister at the President's Office, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Hussain Shareef departed last night to attend the Fortieth Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC (CFM). The conference is to be held in Conakry, capital of the Republic of Guinea from 9 to 11 December 2013. The theme for this year's conference is "Dialogue of Civilizations: Factor of Peace and Sustainable Development".

8 December 2013, Male'; The President Yameen Abdul Gayoom has yesterday signed into law the first-ever legislation prohibiting human trafficking in the country. The new landmark legislation makes trafficking in persons a criminal offence in the Maldives.The law is also the first piece of legislation to be enacted by President Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

7 Dec 2013, Male': The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with SAARC Coastal Zone Management Centre (SCZMC) in Male' celebrated the SAARC Charter Day by holding a children's evening at A. Dh. Atoll Education Centre in Mahibadhoo. The event was targeted for children in islands of Alifu, Dhaal, namely Mahibadhoo, HanyaaMeedhoo, Omadhoo and Kumburudhoo. Approximately, two hundred children ranging from 5to 13 years participated in this event.
