26th December 2013, Male'; The staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon observed a movement of silence in the memory of lives lost during the catastrophic tsunami that hit Maldives and many other parts of Asia on 26th December 2004.
The Maldives mark the day as the 'Day of Unity' . On that day people of Maldives showed their spirit of unity in the face of adversity and courage and strength in helping each other and relief operation.
