Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Ms Dunya Maumoon has arrived in Male’ after concluding her two-day official visit to Islamabad. During her visit, Minister Dunya paid a Courtesy Call on the Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Nawaz Sharif and delivered a message from the President H.E. Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The Working Group of the Universal Periodic Review concluded its 24th Session in Geneva this afternoon. Fourteen member states were reviewed at this session. - namely: Namibia, Niger, Mozambique, Estonia, Paraguay, Belgium, Denmark, Palau, Somalia, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, Latvia, Sierra Leone and Singapore. The Maldives delivered statements and recommendations for seven countries. - Denmark, Palau, Somalia, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, Sierra Leone and Singapore. The recommendations made by Maldives focused on a broad range of issues – gender equality, health, persons with disabilities, climate change, education, water, among other important human rights.
