President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy to the President of Afghanistan, His Excellency Ashraf Ghani, following the deadly bomb blast at a police headquarters in Kabul.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“It was with deep shock and sorrow that I learnt of the deadly bomb blast at a police headquarters in Kabul, causing the tragic loss of life and injury to many. The Government and people of the Maldives join me in condemning this cowardly act of terror in the strongest terms, and we express our firm solidarity with Afghanistan in all its efforts to maintain national peace and harmony.”
“Recognizing that far too many innocent lives around the world have been lost to the scourge of terrorism, the Maldives remains committed to supporting the international fight against this global menace.”
“During this period of grief, I would like to convey my heartfelt sympathy to Your Excellency, the Government and brotherly people of Afghanistan. Please also extend my sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”
