Statement by the Government of Maldives on the Terrorist Attack on the Fuel Transport Ship in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

The Government of Maldives strongly condemns the terrorist attack on the fuel transport ship, anchored at the fuel terminal in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on 14 December 2020.

This subversive act blatantly targeted a crucial facility for the global energy supply and threatens the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the stability of the region, and carries the risk of grave implications on an international scale. Moreover, this act of terror was carried out in flagrant violation of international laws and threatens maritime security and safety.

The Government of Maldives reaffirms its solidarity with the brotherly people and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and reasserts its determination and commitment to stand against terrorism in all forms and manifestations.
