Statement by the Government of Maldives on the attack aimed towards Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport

The Government of Maldives strongly condemns the drone attack aimed towards Abha International Airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on 31 August 2021, resulting in injuries to several civilians.

These deliberate and systematic acts of terrorism targeting civilian areas and infrastructure clearly violate international law and imperil the security and safety of civilians and travelers. Continuation of such attacks towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hinders the ongoing peace efforts being made by the concerned parties and the international community to resolve the conflicts in the region.

The Government of Maldives reaffirms its solidarity with the brotherly people and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reiterates its steadfast commitment to the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
