The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has successfully concluded his official visit to the Republic of Malta, held from 7 – 9 April 2025.
During the visit, the Minister met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Dr Ian Borg, Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Dr Jo Etienne Abela, Minister for the Economy, Enterprise, and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, Minister for the Environment, Energy, and Public Cleanliness, Miriam Dalli and Professor Stephan Calleya, Director at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies. The meetings underscored the shared values and mutual interests of both countries, particularly in strengthening economic cooperation, tourism promotion and climate adaptation .
Minister Dr. Khaleel highlighted the striking parallels between the Maldives and Malta, both small island nations whose strategic locations and economies are intricately woven into global trade and tourism. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to working together to address common challenges, foster economic resilience, and enhance collaboration in key sectors.
