The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has sent a congratulatory message to Kaja Kallas, on her appointment as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Vice President of the European Commission
Minister’s message reads as follows:
"I wish to extend warm congratulations to Your Excellency, as you take on your new role as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Vice President of the European Commission.
There has been significant positive developments in the relations between the Maldives and the European Union, especially with the signing of the first partnership agreement between the Maldives and the European Union this year. The Maldives – European Union relations will continue to foster through this agreement in a multitude of areas including economic development, trade, environment and climate change. In particular, I am confident that it will also support our sustainable fisheries industry and in obtaining duty free access for our tuna exports to the European Union.
I look forward to collaborating with you on these issues and remain assured that the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and the European Union will continue to strengthen in the years ahead.
