The Government of Maldives strongly condemns the attacks by Iran against Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain & other brotherly countries.
The Maldives is particularly concerned by incidents impacting civilian locations, including airports and oil facilities in the Gulf region, which constitutes a clear violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions. The Government of Maldives further regrets that the attacks on the Gulf Countries by Iran are being carried out even without any retaliation by these countries.
The Government of Maldives expresses its deep concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East following the military attacks initiated by Israel and United States against Iran and strongly condemns these strikes, including those on a girls’ school that resulted in over a hundred civilian casualties, as well as attacks on hospitals and oil facilities that caused widespread damage.
The Maldives notes with grave alarm that these actions have further heightened tensions in the Gulf region. The continued violence in the region undermine prospects for any peace, and the Maldives calls for an immediate ceasefire by all parties.
The Government of Maldives urges the international community to intensify diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing peace, stability and security to the region.
