The Government of the Republic of Maldives strongly condemns the Israeli bombing of the headquarters of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza. Assaults that target civilians and civilian infrastructure represent a clear violation of international humanitarian law and are wholly unacceptable.
The ongoing military aggression and actions amounting to war crimes by Israel is already claiming the lives of innocent civilians, destroying critical infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, aid facilities, residential buildings, and places of worship.
The Government of Maldives reiterates its call to the international community to take strong decisive actions to cease attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure and reiterates its call for an immediate and sustained humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, along with the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
The Government and the people of Maldives will always stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine and strongly support their right to self-determination and believes that a sustainable solution to the conflict can only be achieved by establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem, based on the pre-1967 borders.
