Minister of Foreign Affairs departs to China on an Official Visit

At the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Moosa Zameer, has departed on an official visit to the People’s Republic of China from 19 to 24 July 2024. 

The purpose of the visit is to review the progress of the outcome of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s State Visit to China in January this year and to address several key areas of bilateral interest. 

During the visit, Minister Zameer will hold Official Talks with His Excellency Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. Minister Zameer is also scheduled to meet with the senior officials from the Government. These discussions are expected to focus on further strengthening the historic and close bilateral ties between the Maldives and China.

In addition, Minister Zameer will engage in discussions with key Chinese companies that have played a pivotal role in the development of the Maldives, exploring avenues for continued and enhanced cooperation.

Minister Zameer will be accompanied on this visit by Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq, Minister of Finance, Dr. Abdulla Muthalib, Minister of Construction and Infrastructure and senior officials of the Government of Maldives.
