The Government of Maldives today received a donation of 1500 tonnes of mineral water as a kind gesture from the people of Xizang Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China.
At a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, the donation was received by His Excellency Moosa Zameer, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives. The donation was handed over by Her Excellency Wang Lixin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Maldives.
The donation will be distributed to island communities, for use during times of drinking water shortage.
Speaking at the ceremony today, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer highlighted on the warm relations between Maldives and China and mentioned that China continues to remain as a good friend of the Maldives, especially during challenging times and crisis.
Minister Zameer also expressed his gratitude to the people of Xijang Autonomous Region for the kind gesture and to the Government and the people of China for the continued support and goodwill extended to the people and the Government of Maldives.
