The Permanent Representative of Maldives to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Ambassador His Excellency Mohamed Hussain Shareef presented his Letter of Credence to Mr. Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), in an official ceremony held today at the Headquarters of IRENA in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Mohamed Hussain Shareef conveyed appreciation of the Maldives Government for IRENA’s role in advancing renewable energy initiatives and recognized IRENA’s technical assistance, support and contributions to Maldives. Ambassador Shareef further expressed commitment to strengthening the cooperation with IRENA and work towards achieving the renewable energy goals of the Maldivian Government. Director-General La Camera welcomed Ambassador to his new role and reiterated IRENA’s commitment to supporting the Maldives.
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an intergovernmental organization, officially established in 2009. At present IRENA consist of 169 Member States. The Maldives joined the IRENA in 2009 and since then Maldives has been an active member of the organization.
Ambassador Mohamed Hussain Shareef was accompanied by the Minister Counsellor, Mr Mohamed Haisham, Counsellor, Ms Moomina Ibrahim and First Secretary, Ms Fathmath Niusha of the Embassy of the Maldives in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
