The newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda Professor Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel today, following the Presentation of Credentials by the High Commissioner to the President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held earlier this morning at the President’s Office.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Dr. Khaleel congratulated High Commissioner Kikafunda on her appointment and exchanged views on further strengthening the relations between Maldives and Uganda, by increasing cooperation in areas of mutual interests.
Minister Dr. Khaleel further noted the Maldives’ interest in expanding engagement with African countries and recognised the value of South-South cooperation in advancing shared development goals. Minister further expressed confidence that her appointment would mark a new chapter in strengthening the Maldives–Uganda relations.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing a shared commitment to deepening collaboration at the bilateral, regional, and international levels, and to working closely to unlock new opportunities for mutual benefit.
Foreign Minister Dr. Khaleel was accompanied by Secretary Dr. Hala Hameed, State Minister Mohamed Shaheeb, Joint Secretary Khadeeja Najeeha, Senior Under Secretary Fathimath Naeema and Deputy Desk Officer Fathmath Layana Ihusan.
