The newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Maldives, Dr. Abdenor Khelifi, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, today. Ambassador Dr. Khelifi presented his credentials to the President of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, yesterday at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Dr. Khaleel welcomed Ambassador Khelifi and congratulated him on his appointment. Minister Khaleel expressed confidence that the Ambassador’s tenure would help further strengthen the close ties between the Maldives and Algeria.
The Minister and the Ambassador exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral relations and collaboration at the multilateral level. Minister Khaleel also highlighted the importance of the Maldives’ partnership with Algeria within the framework of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Foreign Minister Dr. Khaleel was accompanied by Secretary Dr. Hala Hameed, Ambassador-at-large, Abdullah Hameed, Joint Secretary Khadeeja Najeeha, Senior Under Secretary Fathimath Naeema, and Deputy Desk Officer Fathimath Malsa Mohamed.
