The New Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Kingdom of Bhutan, His Excellency Ibrahim Shaheeb, presented his Letter of Credence to the King of Bhutan, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, at a ceremony held in the Grand Kuenray at Tashichhodzong, this morning.
On presenting the credentials His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, congratulated Ambassador Shaheeb and expressed confidence that the Ambassador will work to reinforce the close ties between the Maldives and Bhutan. At the brief audience with His Majesty, Ambassador Shaheeb mentioned that it was a privilege to have had the opportunity to work towards the mutual benefit of the two countries. Ambassador also assured the commitment to work closely in order to further elevate the existing cordial partnership.
Ambassador Shaheeb extended the warmest greeting and sincere good wishes from the President of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives to His Majesty the King of Bhutan. As the newly accredited Ambassador, Ibrahim Shaheeb assured his commitment to work closely with the Government of Bhutan to further strengthen the close relations between Maldives and Bhutan during his tenure.
Following the presentation ceremony, the newly accredited Ambassador of Maldives to the Kingdom of Bhutan will pay a courtesy call to the Prime Minister, His Excellency Dr. Lotay Tshering and Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Bhutan, His Excellency Dr. Tandi Dorji, at separate events. Ambassador Shaheeb will also hold meetings with senior government officials in Bhutan.
Ambassador Shaheeb is accompanied by First Secretary at the High Commission of Maldives in India, Mr. Mohamed Najeel.
