The Maldives and São Tomé and Príncipe sign a Visa Waiver Agreement

The Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe have signed an Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements today. Within the framework of this agreement, Maldivians with all types of passports will be able to travel to São Tomé and Príncipe without a visa and stay for up to 90 days.

The Agreement was signed on behalf of the Government of Maldives by Her Excellency Aishath Azeema, Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the People’s Republic of China, and on behalf of the Government the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, by Her Excellency Isabel Maysa Jesus da Graca Domingos, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe to the People’s Republic of China, at a signing ceremony held at the Embassy of Maldives in Beijing.

During the discussions following the signing ceremony, Ambassador Aishath Azeema thanked the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe for its commitment towards strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and conveyed hope that the signing of this agreement will increase the avenues for engagement and people to people contact between the Maldives and São Tomé and Príncipe. Ambassador Domingos also expressed keen interest in strengthening the bilateral ties with the Maldives and assured São Tomé and Príncipe’s commitment to work with the Maldives on areas of mutual interest.
