State Minister Ahmed Khaleel concludes Official Visit to Georgia
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel has concluded his Official Visit to Georgia today. State Minister Khaleel undertook this visit to co-chair the second round of political consultations between Maldives and Georgia. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Alexander Khvtisiashvili, co-chaired the consultations on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
During the consultations, both State Minister Khaleel and Deputy Minister Khvtisiashvili reviewed the existing relationship between the two countries and explored avenues to further enhance cooperation especially in the fields of trade, tourism, health, education, environment and climate change. The discussions also focused on strengthening economic cooperation including increasing connectivity between the two countries.
During this visit, State Minister Khaleel also met with the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Genadi Arveladze and explored ways to boost trade between the two countries especially in the areas of tourism, fisheries and investment. State Minister Khaleel also met with the Chairperson of the Foreign Relations Committee at the Parliament of Georgia, Nikoloz Samkharadze, and discussed areas to enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. State Minister Khaleel also met with Maldivian students studying medicine in the Georgian National University SEU in Tbilisi.
State Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Joint Secretary Shiuneen, Rasheed and Desk Officer, Saifulla Waleed during this visit.
