25 April 2012, Male';The Majlis yesterday approved the Vice President Mr Waheed Deen and Cabinet Ministers proposed by President Dr Mohamed Waheed.The vote was unanimous of those present and voting which included 46 members representing all the parties in Majlis.Whilst, MDP walked out of the session, 1 MDP Mp remained in the chamber.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H. E. Ms. Dunya Maumoon has said that the approval given to Vice President and the Cabinet Ministers shows the wide-ranging support President Waheed's Government enjoys in the country. She made her remarks on the DhiTV programme Fourth Estate last night. She noted that "the Majlis which is constituted by representatives of the people has shown overwhelming support for the Vice President and members of the cabinet.This is a major victory for the National Unity Government."
Cabinet Ministers were approved in today's sitting, which included Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah. H.E Dr Abdul Samad Abdullah has vast experience and knowledge in national and international affairs having served the Government of Maldives as well as in the United Nations.
Today's sitting of the People's Majlis was attended by 47 members.
