Her Excellency Dr. Salma Rasheed, presented her Letters of Credence to His Excellency Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen, Federal President of the Republic of Austria, as the newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives, at a ceremony held today at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna.
During the meeting that followed, Ambassador Dr. Salma conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives, as well as from the Government and the people of the Maldives to the Federal President, the Government and the people of Austria. She then recalled the friendly relations between the two countries and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening and broadening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest including commercial diplomacy and people to people contact.
During her visit to Vienna, Ambassador Dr. Salma also met with senior officials of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria. Discussions focused on advancing bilateral relations and enhancing partnership in the multilateral fora.
Ambassador Dr. Salma was accompanied at the ceremony by Ms. Aishath Rayahyn, Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations Offices in Geneva.
Ambassador Dr. Salma also serves as the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations Offices in Geneva, as well as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Swiss Confederation.
