The newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Maldives Ihab Khalil, paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel today, following the Presentation of his Credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held earlier this morning at the President’s Office.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Dr. Khaleel congratulated Ambassador on his appointment and conveyed best wishes for a successful tenure. Minister expressed confidence that the Ambassador’s appointment would contribute to further strengthening the long-standing brotherly relations between the Maldives and Palestine.
Minister Dr. Khaleel reiterated the Maldives’ unwavering support and solidarity with the brothers and sisters in Palestine, emphasising that the cause of Palestine is one that remains close to the heart of every Maldivian. Minister further reaffirmed the firm position of the Government of Maldives in support of a sovereign and independent Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing commitment to deepen cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels, and to working together in advocating for peace, justice, and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Minister Dr. Khaleel was accompanied by Secretary Dr. Hala Hameed, Ambassador-at-Large Abdullah Hameed, Joint Secretary Khadeeja Najeeha, Senior Under Secretary Fathimath Naeema and Deputy Desk Officer Fathimath Malsa Mohamed.
