The newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Alireza Delkhosh, paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel today, following the Presentation of his Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held earlier this morning at the President’s Office.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Dr. Khaleel congratulated Ambassador on his appointment and conveyed best wishes for a successful tenure. Minister expressed confidence that his appointment would further contribute to advancing the relations between the Maldives and Iran.
Minister Dr. Khaleel expressed concern over the recent escalation resulting from Israel’s military strikes on Iran, and conveyed condolences to the families affected. He expressed hope that the crisis will come to an end soon and emphasised that dialogue and diplomacy remain the viable path to achieving peace and stability in the region.
Minister Dr. Khaleel was accompanied by Secretary Dr. Hala Hameed, Ambassador at Large Abdullah Hameed, Joint Secretary Khadeeja Najeeha, Senior Under Secretary Fathimath Naeema and Deputy Desk Officer Fathimath Malsa Mohamed.
