07 July 2014, Male'; His Excellency Mr. Waven William, new High Commissioner of the Republic of Seychelles to the Republic of Maldives has called on Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives.
At the meeting held at the Foreign Ministry this afternoon, Minister welcomed the High Commissioner and congratulated him on his appointment. Foreign Minister noted that as Small Island developing states the Maldives and Seychelles share a number of common concerns including the adverse effects of climate change, and discussed ways of further strengthening the close bilateral relations between the two countries and working closely together on issues on common interest.
The High Commissioner assured his commitment to working with the Government of Maldives in strengthening the relations between the two countries and in bringing issues of common concern to the international forefront.
Foreign Minister was accompanied by Ms. Fathimath Inaya, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Fathimath Najwa, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
