Minister Shahid sends Independence Day greetings to India

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid has sent a message of felicitations ‎‎to Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of India’s independence.  

Minister’s message reads as follows:

“On behalf of the Government and people of Maldives, I take great pride in conveying to Your Excellency, Government and the friendly people of the Republic of India, sincere greetings and heartiest felicitations on the joyous occasion of the 76th anniversary of India’s independence.  

India continues to inspire the world with its exemplary role in the global arena, leading with the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. We are confident that India will champion in addressing the challenges of the global south by bridging the North-South divide and continue to strive for the betterment of its people and its neighbours.

With the centuries-old traditions of friendship, good neighborliness, mutual respect and trust, and the expanding development partnership, Maldives will continue to strengthen the strategic partnership with India, for the betterment of our countries and peoples, in the interests of ensuring peace, stability and constructive cooperation in the region.

As you celebrate this joyous occasion of independence, it gives me great pleasure to convey my personal good wishes for your well-being, and for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the friendly people of India.
