The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel has departed to China to attend the 4th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum, and the 7th China-South Asia Expo, which is due to be held in Kunming, Yunnan Province in the People’s Republic of China from 16-20 August 2023.
During his visit, State Minister Khaleel will participate in the Opening Ceremony of the Forum and deliver a statement on behalf of the Government of Maldives, and will meet with senior officials from the Yunnan Province to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two sides. Maldives has attended the Expo and the Forum in Yunnan Province in previous years, although this is the first time it has been held in-person since COVID-19 restrictions were lifted by China in January this year.
State Minister Khaleel is being accompanied by the Ambassador of Maldives to the People’s Republic of China Her Excellency Aishath Azeema, and Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mariyam Suha.
