Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India arrives in Maldives, on an Official Visit
The Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived on an Official Visit to Maldives this afternoon.
The External Affairs Minister was received at Maafaru International Airport, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President of the Noonu Atoll Council and members of the Noonu Maafaru Council.
During the visit Minister of External Affairs is scheduled to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony of Hanimaadhoo International Airport Development Project, being constructed under Indian Line of Credit. During the visit, Minister of External Affairs will call on the President of the Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
Both Ministers are scheduled to hold official talks and witness the exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding between the two countries at a ceremony to be held in Noonu Manadhoo. Minister of External Affairs will also participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Shaviyani Foakaidhoo Community Centre. Additionally, during the visit, Minister of External Affairs will visit Haa Alif Utheemu and tour the historical sites.
This is Minister Dr. Jaishankar’s fourth visit to the Maldives, in his capacity as the Minister of External Affairs of India. His last visit was in March 2022 to Addu City.
