The High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the United Kingdom, Iruthisham Adam, represented the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, at the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting held today in London, United Kingdom.
During the meeting, Member States engaged in discussions focused on ongoing efforts of the Commonwealth to strengthen the organisation’s effectiveness and the preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to be held in November this year. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on key challenges faced by Member States.
The Commonwealth consists of 56 member countries, and since rejoining the Commonwealth, the Maldives has been working closely with the organisation in various areas, particularly in promoting the interests of Small Island Developing States.
