Maldives participates in the 120th session of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS)

The Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Kingdom of Belgium, Geela Ali, represented the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, at the 120th session of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS). The meeting took place from 12-14 December 2025 in Brussels, Belgium.
 
During the meeting, Ambassador Geela commended on the progress made by the organization under the leadership of the Secretary General, Moussa Salef-Batraki, in areas of restructuring the secretariat, enhancing trade, and ensuring sustainable development. She also reiterated the Government of Maldives’ commitment to further enhance engagement and ensure inclusive and sustainable development of Member States of the Organization.  
 
The OACPS, comprising of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, was established in 1975 under the “Georgetown Agreement”. The Maldives became a full member of the OACPS on 9 December 2022 and has been working together with members of the OACPS and the European Union to address global challenges.
