Maldives - Azerbaijan holds the first round of Bilateral Consultations

The first round of bilateral consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan was held today. 
 
The Maldives delegation was led by Her Excellency Fathimath Inaya, Foreign Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, and the Azerbaijani delegation was led by His Excellency Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
 
At the consultations held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives this afternoon, Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya and Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov reviewed the cooperation program, and progress on key agreements reached between the Maldives and Azerbaijan. Recalling the discussions held between His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku last November, today’s bilateral consultations were focused on enhancing cooperation in the fields of investment promotion, education, culture, tourism, connectivity, fostering people-to-people exchanges, multilateral cooperation, as well as other important issues of mutual interest.
 
During today’s deliberations, Foreign Secretary Inaya and Deputy Minister Mammadov reiterated their commitment to maintain close engagement to cooperate on issues of mutual interest and to further strengthen the close ties of friendship between the two countries.
 
Deputy Foreign Minister Mammadov is in the Maldives, leading a high-level delegation from Azerbaijan with representatives from government agencies including the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO) and the private sector. During their visit, the delegation will engage with key stakeholders of the government and explore investment opportunities in the Maldives.
