Maldives and Georgia hold the 2nd Round of Political Consultation
The second round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has concluded in Tbilisi today. The Political Consultation provides a platform between the two countries to discuss bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual importance. The first round of Political Consultation was held in the Maldives on 11 December 2019. During today’s dialogue, both the governments explored ways to further expand bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in several areas including trade, tourism, health, education, environment and climate change. The discussions also focused on enhancing economic cooperation including increasing connectivity and boosting trade between both the countries. The two governments also discussed international issues of mutual importance and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation in the multilateral arena. The second round of political consultation was co-chaired by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Ahmed Khaleel and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Alexander Khvtisiashvili.
