Japanese Ambassador pays a farewell call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, Her Excellency Mrs. Takeuchi Midori paid a farewell call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs  His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Khaleel this afternoon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Khaleel conveyed his sincere gratitude and appreciation of the Government of Maldives, for the Ambassador’s personal contribution towards the expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries, and the generous support she had extended to the Maldives during her ambassadorial tenure.

Ambassador Takeuchi Midori expressed gratitude for the Maldivian government's support and help throughout her stay and stated her commitment to continue working closely with the Government of Maldives in strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Khaleel and Ambassador Takeuchi Midori highlighted on the enduring friendship between the Maldives and Japan, which marked its 57th anniversary on 14 November. Minister also highlighted the partnership’s foundation of trust, shared values, and close collaboration across various sectors, underpinned by strong people-to-people ties. The Minister expressed heartfelt appreciation for Japan's significant contributions to the Maldives' development, particularly in disaster management, infrastructure, education, and maritime security. Both parties concurred on their readiness to work together to further enhance the ties between the two countries. 

Ambassador Takeuchi Midori presented her Credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on 20 January 2022, and is departing the Maldives after more than two years as Ambassador of Japan.
