The newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Dr. Iruthisham Adam, presented her Letter of Credence to His Majesty King Charles III today at the Buckingham Palace.
His Majesty the King congratulated the High Commissioner on her appointment and expressed desire to strengthen the longstanding traditional ties of friendship and cooperation with the Maldives. High Commissioner Dr. Iruthisham Adam conveyed greetings from His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to His Majesty King Charles III and reiterated the commitment of the Government of Maldives to working closely with the UK in areas of mutual interest.
The ceremony was followed by a reception hosted at St. James’ Court London – A Taj Hotel. Among those in attendance were the Commonwealth Secretary General, Ambassadors and High Commissioners from SAARC and Commonwealth countries, Dean of the Diplomatic Corp Ambassador Ivan Romero-Martinez of Honduras, Representatives from the Maldives/South Asia Department at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Senior Officials from the Commonwealth Secretariat, Co-Chairs of the Maldives-UK All Party Parliamentary Group, Senior Officials of the Government of the United Kingdom and International Organizations, Media and Maldivian diaspora.
High Commissioner Dr. Iruthisham Adam was accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner Mohamed Ahmed, Defence Attaché Colonel Hussain Fairoosh, First Secretary Mariyam Asif and Third Secretary Aminath Samra.
