Foreign Minister Shahid sends congratulatory message to the New Foreign Minister of Japan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid has sent a congratulatory message to Kamikawa Yoko, on her appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan

Minister’s message reads as follows:

“I wish to extend warm congratulations and best wishes on Your Excellency’s appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan. 

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries on the 14th of November 1967, Japan's generosity has played a pivotal role in elevating our economic prospects and enhancing our quality of life. 

The deep-rooted bonds of friendship and the close people to people contact have been instrumental in guiding our path toward lasting economic prosperity, significantly improving our livelihoods and overall well-being. The Maldives remains steadfast in our support for Japan’s effort to advance the common goals and values, particularly in promoting a free and open Indo – pacific region.

I am confident that our existing bilateral relations will continue to grow stronger as you assume your post as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, under Prime Minister Kishida Fumio. I look forward to working closely with Your Excellency to take our bilateral relationship to even greater heights for the mutual benefit of our two peoples.
