Foreign Minister Shahid meets with Minister of Heritage and Tourism of Oman
Foreign Minister His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, the Special Envoy of President His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with the Minister of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Salem Bin Mohammed Al-Mahrouqi.
At the meeting held at Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of Oman, Minister Shahid highlighted that the the year 2022 is being celebrated in the Maldives as the Golden Year of Tourism, to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Tourism industry in the Maldives, and briefed Minister Al-Mahrouqi about the development of tourism in the Maldives over the past half century. Minister Shahid also commended Minister Al-Mahrouqi on the thriving Tourism industry of Oman in line with Oman’s 2040 National Tourism Strategy.
Both Ministers discussed the importance of increasing people-to-people contact between the two countries and Minister Shahid expressed the desire of the government of Maldives to see more Omani investments in the Maldivian tourism sector. During the meeting, Minister Shahid and Minister Al-Mahrouqi assured commitment of both countries to enhance cooperation in the area of tourism, between the Maldives and Oman.
Foreign Minister Shahid was accompanied at the meeting by the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Mohamed Khaleel and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Fathimath Najwa. Minister Al-Mahrouqi was accompanied by officials of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman.
