Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has arrived Male’ following a successful official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, at the invitation of His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman.
On his official visit, Minister Dr. Khaleel called on His Highness Sayyed Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Special Representative of His Majesty the Sultan. Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi accompanied His Highness Sayyed Asaad bin Tariq Al Said at this call.
Minister Dr. Khaleel held a constructive dialogue with Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, where both Ministers reviewed the longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries and explored ways to enhance bilateral collaboration across various sectors, including education, trade, tourism and investment promotion.
Further, Minister Dr. Khaleel met with His Excellency Sultan bin Salim bin Said Al Habsi, Minister of Finance and His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, as well as other dignitaries of the Omani Government, to discuss areas of mutual interest for prospective cooperation.
During the visit, both Foreign Ministers signed two significant agreements between the Maldives and Oman. The Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations that establishes a framework for regular dialogue led by the two Foreign Ministries; and the Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption for Diplomatic, Special, Service and Official Passport Holders that will ease official travel, reflecting the strong ties between the two countries.
Minister Dr. Khaleel was accompanied by Dr. Hala Hameed, Secretary, Bilateral, Ms. Fathimath Naeema, Senior Under Secretary and Mr. Mohamed Shujau, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
