The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel attended a reception hosted by the Ambassador of the United States of America, Hugo Yon, to mark the 249th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America, as Chief Guest.
In his remarks, Foreign Minister Dr. Khaleel reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with the United States, highlighting six decades of cooperation in defence, governance, and economic development.
Foreign Minister Dr. Khaleel praised the enduring friendship between the Maldives and the United States, rooted in mutual respect since 1965, and highlighted the growing collaboration across multiple sectors. He further noted that the Maldives looks forward to the 60th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries, pledging to deepen engagement for a secure and prosperous future.
