The Minster of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel concluded his official visit to the State of Kuwait today. The visit undertaken on the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya underscores the enduring bonds of brotherhood between the Maldives and the State of Kuwait, founded on a shared Islamic heritage and fortified through over four decades of mutual respect, collaboration and common values between the two nations.
On his visit, Foreign Minister Dr. Khaleel had an audience with the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Kuwait, H.E. Sheikh Fahad Yousef Al-Saud Al-Sabah and held constructive discussions with his counterpart Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya and senior dignitaries of the government of Kuwait. Discussions focused on further strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries while exploring new avenues for mutually beneficial collaboration. Minister Dr. Khaleel further held meetings with Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), and the Assistant Director General of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During these meetings, Minister Dr. Khaleel provided a comprehensive briefing on economic priorities and highlighted on the ongoing efforts to diversify the Maldives economy ensuring sustainable growth and stability across key sectors. In this context both countries expressed keen interest in exploring further avenues of collaboration to support the Maldives development goals and deepen bilateral engagement.
