Minster of Foreign Affairs received a virtual farewell call from the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Maldives
The Minster of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Abdulla Shahid, received a virtual farewell call from the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Saeed Mohamed Ali Alshamsi, today.
During the telephone call, Minister Shahid thanked Ambassador Alshamsi for his effort towards improving Maldives-UAE relations during his tenure, and acknowledged the Ambassador’s important role in establishing the first Resident Embassy of the UAE in the Maldives. Minister Shahid also expressed his appreciation to the Government of the UAE for their continued support and assistance to the Maldives as an invaluable development partner, with increased bilateral exchanges taking place over the recent years.
Ambassador Alshamsi reiterated his gratitude to the Foreign Minister and the Government of the Maldives for the support extended to him during his tenure, and expressed confidence that the relationship between the Maldives and UAE will grow stronger in the years ahead.
Dr. Saeed Ali Alshamsi was appointed as the first Resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Maldives, and presented his credentials to the President on 25 March 2019.
