The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the Republic of Maldives, Sheikh Rahma Abdulrahman Rahma Abdulrahman Al Shamsi, paid a farewell call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, today.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning, Minister Dr. Khaleel conveyed his appreciation to the Ambassador for his dedicated efforts in further strengthening the longstanding and brotherly relations between the Maldives and UAE. The Minister also commended the Ambassador’s contribution to advancing cooperation across key areas of mutual interest.
Minister Dr. Khaleel and Ambassador Al Shamsi expressed concern over the current situation in the Middle East and underscored the importance of all countries upholding the principles of international law, exercising restraint, and working collectively to maintain regional peace and stability.
Ambassador Al Shamsi expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of the Maldives for the cooperation and support extended to him during his tenure and reiterated the UAE’s continued commitment to enhancing partnership with the Maldives.
Minister Dr. Khaleel reaffirmed the Maldives’ strong commitment to deepening bilateral engagement with the UAE and expressed confidence that the close and brotherly ties between the two countries will continue to flourish under the leadership of the Ambassador’s successor.
Minister Dr. Khaleel concluded the meeting extending his best wishes to the Ambassador in his future endeavours and assured the Government’s full support and cooperation to the incoming Ambassador.
