Ambassador of Nepal to the Maldives calls on the Minister of Foreign Affairs

The newly appointed Ambassador of Nepal to the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Purna Bahadur Nepali, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, today.

The meeting took place following the presentation of the Letters of Credence by Ambassador Dr. Nepali to the President of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Dr. Khaleel warmly welcomed Ambassador Dr. Nepali and extended congratulations on his accreditation as the Non-resident Ambassador of Nepal to the Maldives, based in Sri Lanka. The discussions mainly focused on matters of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on cooperation in the areas of environment and climate change, socio-economic development and human resource capacity building. 

Minister Dr. Khaleel highlighted the longstanding bonds of friendship between the Maldives and Nepal and expressed sincere appreciation for Nepal’s continued support to the Maldives’ health sector, particularly through capacity-building initiatives. He further noted the constructive cooperation that exists between the two countries at bilateral, regional, and multilateral platforms. 

Both Minister Dr. Khaleel and Ambassador Dr. Nepali reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening the cordial relations between the Maldives and Nepal. They expressed a shared interest in exploring new avenues of collaboration that would benefit both nations.

Minister Dr. Khaleel was accompanied at the meeting by State Minister Sheryna Abdul Samad, Secretary Fathimath Inaya, Additional Secretary Aminath Abdulla Didi, and Assistant Director Ibrahim Naushad.
