Ambassador of the European Union to the Maldives Denis Chaibi, paid a farewell call on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel today.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Minister Khaleel expressed appreciation to Ambassador Chaibi for his remarkable efforts in strengthening the relations between the Maldives and the European Union. Furthermore, the State Minister and the Ambassador reviewed the existing cooperation and exchanged ideas aimed at further enhancing ties between the Maldives and the EU.
Ambassador Chaibi conveyed his gratitude to the Maldivian Government for the support extended during his tenure. He also reflected on EU's continuous assistance to the Maldives and acknowledged the remarkable progress made by the Government of Maldives especially in its efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the Ambassador emphasized that the Maldives and the EU share similar views on various pressing global issues, including climate change and human rights.
State Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Joint Secretary Shiuneen Rasheed and Director Adam Hamid.
