Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim attended as the Chief Guest at the Official Reception hosted by the Embassy of Japan, to celebrate the Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Japan.

While addressing the function held on this auspicious occasion, Minister Asim conveyed warm greetings and sincere congratulations on behalf of His Excellency the President of Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the People of Maldives to His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito, members of the Imperial Family, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the Government and the friendly people of Japan.

Minister Asim highlighted the close and cordial relationship between the two countries and expressed appreciation for the various development assistance provided by the Government and the people of Japan to the Maldives. Minister assured firm commitment to work closely with the Government of Japan to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the Maldives and Japan.

As the host, H. E. Mr. Iwao Horii, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Government of Japan and H.E Mr. Kazumi Endo, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Maldives participated in the Official Reception held at Hotel Jen.
