Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Asim has sent a message of condolence to His Excellency Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, following the severe flooding caused by Tropical Cyclone Damrey.

Minister’s message reads as follows:

“I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the severe flooding caused by Tropical Cyclone Damrey recently in Vietnam, ruining a number of people’s homes, affecting farmlands and causing loss of lives.

On behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Government and people of Vietnam. Please also convey our sincere sympathies to the members of the affected families.

At this time of national distress, our thoughts and prayers are with the Government and the people of Vietnam.”
